The Big Picture Bio
How did I get here? I ask myself this every day and can’t believe I’m actually running my own business. Have you ever had a dream you didn’t even know you had until one day, you woke up and said “damn, this is awesome!” Well, that’s kinda how it went for me.
The story goes something like this…girl meets boy…girl falls for boy…girl and boy get married…girl gets pregnant…girl quits cushy corporate job to start a family…baby boy arrives…girl takes lots of photos…girl’s girlfriends want lots of photos of their babies…girl’s girlfriends’ girlfriends want photos…girl thinks, “this could really be something.”
I never envisioned starting my own photography business, it wasn’t part of “the plan” but as one of my favorite sayings goes “if you want to hear God laugh, tell him your plans.” I’ve discovered this new love, this desire to create something else, something that I can pour my heart & soul into that’s just for me. Being able to stay home and take care of my sons is wonderful and they are and continue to be my inspiration and motivation; but I’ve found having this creative outlet helps me be a better mom and wife.
I envision this blog as a place for me to share information and photos from my sessions, to discuss new ideas, and to open my experiences on starting a business while balancing a family. Some would argue that this type of blog should be reserved strictly for professional content, and while it primarily will be, I can’t leave out the part of my life that shapes not only who I am as a person, but as a photographer. I am blessed with the most incredible husband, adorable baby, wonderful family, and supportive friends who challenge, excite, motivate, and inspire me.
